Movement Forward

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin
with a single step”.

~Lao Tzu

We are in a time period where we are collectively being called to drop that which no longer serves, shed the barriers and armor that have kept us separate and protected and to own our individual unique paths while being in connection to others.

No small task!

This is not a time to cower or disappear.  This is truly a time to step out of our comfort zones (sometimes WAY OUT) and try something different.

What have you always wanted to do but you have put on the backburner of “someday”?

What has been holding you back from taking those steps, no matter how small, towards actualizing your dreams?

What are the stories that you have been telling yourself about not being able to do something that you have always wanted to do?

This is not an opportunity to berate yourself for not being where you want to be or comparing your path with others paths or taking on any other negative stigma around “should” or “if only” or the lovely “Imposter Syndrome”.

Herein lies the space to be exactly who you are on your own unique path.  To take those clear steps, no matter how scary they may feel, towards actualizing your dreams.

There is so much going on globally that is out of our control and beyond heart-breaking.  What we do have control over is our own lives and how we use this precious time that we have on the planet.

What steps can you take right now towards your dreams and goals?

It is so important to name that which is interfering with your ability to step forward and then to actively work with whatever it is.  Everyone has their stories, patterns, and cycles that they find themselves in response to.

The work is to acknowledge, honor, release, and then to actively take steps towards the light.

Here is a simple journaling exercise to hone in on your unique life’s path:

  • First, spend some time writing down all of those messages that you have been carrying around that are debilitating and interfering with your forward movement.  Do not hold back!  Here is an opportunity to get all that is swirling in that active mind OUT.  It can be shocking to write down these statements that we are speaking to ourselves regularly.  Make sure that you are taking deep belly breaths as you are emptying your busy mind and naming these inhibiting patterns and directives.

  • Then, write down what your dreams and goals are.  Again, do not hold back! Notice if those voices of sabotage, disbelief, and dysfunction are vying for your attention.  Acknowledge, honor, and release.  Go as big as you are uncomfortably comfortable doing.  What do you want to create and actualize in your life on every level?

  • The last step is to write down specific action steps to get there.  This is a process and could involve many baby steps towards each goal.  Be patient with yourself.  If you don’t know just bookmark it to return to later.  If you feel yourself spinning in and out of disbelief, take a walk, turn on some music and move your body, do anything to move the energy and then return to your action plan.  Then, commit to doing at least one action step (again, no matter how small) a day.  Nothing that you are doing towards your dreams is a waste of your time even if it may feel as though you are.  Remember, slow and steady progress.

I feel as though we are all placed on the planet for a reason.  We all have value and purpose – it is truly about clearing out those cobwebs, old stories, patterning, and messages to step more fully into the truth of who we are and our life’s purpose.
