A Brush with Death
When one has an experience of near death (or, as my recent podcast guest experienced, death), life as we know it is never the same. Having had my own brush with death over 4 years ago, this subject is a powerful one for me to share.
I can say, in my experience, that it takes time to piece oneself back together with integrity and the truth of who we are now, altered forever from that soul-stirring moment in time.
It is impossible to fully explain and encapsulate in words, the deep reorganization that happens from within our being when we are faced with death, yet, feels as though it is a potent message to share far and wide in offering the medicine that is birthed from these experiences.
Of course, each individual’s experience in the eyes of death is unique in their version, flavor, and textures, however, I do feel that it is the ultimate wake-up call. It is not possible to return to life as usual. However, the next phase of our existence takes time to reveal itself.
Each experience of our lives shapes who we are. Not knowing whether one is going to live or die is one of the most transformational experiences that one can navigate.
I know, for me, my entire life changed in that moment of near death. I woke up and knew my purpose on the planet on the deepest and most embodied level. I knew that I could never go back to “business as usual”. I knew, in my heart and soul, that I had a mission. That I had a calling to be of guidance and support to humanity from the most authentic, vulnerable, and empathic place inside of me.
That moment of impending death woke me up to life in a way that I could never have imagined possible (I wrote a blog post years ago sharing this incredible story as well as was interviewed by my dear friends on their podcast, if either are of interest to you). It snapped me out of the trance of human existence and opened me up to an unexplainable force of living that remains my guiding light today.
I have resurrected my podcast, Embodied and Awake, as of this month after a several month hiatus. It feels great to be returning to the world of podcasting!
Talking with my guest, Stacey Lynn, a woman with an amazing story about literally dying and coming back to life, reminded me of the power of sharing our truth (with those open to listening and hearing us!).
I am reminded of the why around the podcast (nothing flashy or fancy!) and why I am devoted to bringing humans together to share themselves with honesty, vulnerability, and truth, so that we may continuously break down the barriers of our shared humanity and open to a deeper, more authentic level of connection.
There is an opportunity to be seen, to take a big exhale, unwind a layer of tension or shame or constriction, and deepen in our embodiment of our own healing journey.
I am committed to service of humanity and am always out here for support, connection, reflection, and with the pure desire to continually bridge the gaps in our humanity....to keep things authentic, vulnerable, transparent, and REAL.
Reach out anytime.
I always love hearing from you.
May we all hold each other in love and with deep compassion for this human ride of life.
