The Sacred Pause
We are descending into the darkness… towards that turning point of the year, the Winter Solstice…. the time of the year and our lives where we begin to turn back towards the light.
But not before we experience the darkest of the days as each day removes a bit more sunlight, we are being given the opportunity to dive deeply into our own selves. Into our bodies and hearts and our lives.
It is a necessary descent that offers us the palate for a sacred pause. A pause in the bustle, in the excessive outer noise, in the need to be “on” in all moments….if we embrace it. The reality is that the polarities of this time of year are alive in the holiday craze, over-consumption, over-socialization, the need to do do do.
Yet, really, what this time of year is offering us is that moment of exhale. That moment to be quiet and reflective. To tend to ourselves and our families. The permission slip to simmer in the darkness and breathe ourselves alive in it.
The dark and cold beckon us indoors…into the hearth of our homes and our hearts.
I acknowledge and understand personally that this is not always an *easy* time of year for many. It can be isolating and depressive, contracting and collapsing, and overall feel as though the light will not return.
Yet, it can also be a time of sacred pause – a necessary and life-enhancing time to exhale, to reset, to come HOME to ourselves, to tune deeply inwards, to plant seeds of intention and visions of what we want to birth with the return of the light.
It can be a beautiful inward time of aligned connection and exploration.
Many resist the darkness. Yet, if we can lean into it, allow ourselves to be present and held in these darker days…we can have the experience of a profound shift of consciousness.
A state of being that can ride the waves of the seasons of our lives with integrity, compassion, presence, and love.
The seasons of the year provide us with so much medicine if we can attune ourselves to what they have to offer. The darkness, the sacred pause of the year, is deep and truly opens the possibility of bringing in sustainable and aligned connection, growth, and healing.
So, perhaps this message is the validation and inspiration that you need to sink into these darker days. To stay close to yourself as this season unfolds. To choose to happily hunker into your home…to light your candles and allow the dancing flames of light to reverberate through your heart.
To choose to be with yourself in whatever flavor of your humanity that you are currently navigating, without bypassing it. And, to truly use this time of sacred pause to drop deeply down into your beautiful bodies and breathe in ease and peace and compassion and unwavering love.
I will leave you with these simple words which came through me and what I am feeling in this sacred pause:
The collective exhale.
A deep reset from the inside out.
Coming home to our bodies, our hearts, and our souls.
Finding the warmth from within.
Permission to BE.
Creating space in our inner and outer worlds.
Tuning in.
Quiet. Stillness. Connection. Community. Movement.
