The Transitions of Our Lives
I have been deep in retreat preparations as our annual Mid-Summer Women’s Retreat begins this Thursday. There are, of course, endless logistical preparations that are needed to be tended to…all very important.
Yet, I learned long ago that the most valuable preparation that I can do as a facilitator is dive into myself, into my practices, into quiet connection with my heart, into regulating my nervous system, into nourishing my body, and…resting.
So, I sent my partner and teenager away for a little camping adventure and I did just that.
What kept surfacing for me during these days was this awareness around transitions. The transitions of life, no matter how grand or subtle, provide the platform for profound and rich wisdom to emerge about who we are and how we move through life on the whole.
The transitions of our lives offer us such profound medicine and insight into our inner workings.
Bringing awareness to these pivotal moments of transition offers us tremendous richness of living on a day-to-day basis and enhances our connection to ourselves and others in immeasurable ways.
What may seem so minor in how we are moving through the progression of shifting from point A to point B can actually become the landing pad for profound truth and a level of recognition from within that can change deeply rooted patterns in our psyche.
Really, we are in constant transition….from sleep to waking, from home to work, from solitude to togetherness, from being hungry to eating to digesting, from the bustle of the activities of the day to the slower, quieter evening time, etc etc. Bringing our consciousness to these transitions and how we navigate them offers incredible insight into our deepest selves.
The invitation to bring into your week ahead is to pay attention to the transitions of your lives. What do you habitually do? Think about? Reach for? Is it uncomfortable? Relieving? Anxiety provoking?
Here is an opportunity to bring mindfulness into these moments of transition. To deepen in your awareness of your habitual patterns.
To, perhaps, begin to take small steps in a different direction…a pivot towards a change that you are needing in your lives…a choice point of creating a new pathway in your state of being….by simply choosing to bring consciousness, presence, compassion, curiosity, and love into the passages of your life.
Taking those deep breaths and dropping into your bodies in midst of your transitions in life. Bringing your whole self to these moments and shifting out of auto-pilot.
Being right there with yourself and your life experiences.
Making the choice to really show up for YOU and choosing to not numb, distract, disconnect, or cause harm.
Rather, to embrace the many transitions of your humanness with ease and faith in yourself and your unique unfolding of life.
I will catch you on the flip side of this transformational weekend.
Wishing you all a nourishing and connected week ahead!
