Through the Trenches of Life

I believe, feel, and have experienced so many times in my own life that sometimes things get really hard, dense, and mucky before a big breakthrough. Before things get "better". More spacious and open and loving and abundant and infused with hope and levity…

Sometimes we must go into the trenches of life in order to get to the deeper layers of who we are.

If we are always just skimming the surface and keeping things on the up and up, bypassing and avoiding some of the denser and darker aspects of ourselves and our lives, we don’t really grow. At least not in a way that I know is possible.

To be transformed, literally from the inside out, from the depths of who we are...to be cracked open to new ways of living and being and existing and relating...demands that we meet the denser, more challenging and darker aspects of ourselves. Our shadows.

It is not to be feared. But rather embraced as a part of human evolution.

But, to come back to my earlier point around things sometimes getting even harder right before there is a breakthrough…

Sometimes it feels as though things come to a heightened state, pushing us to our edge, challenging our capacity to stay upright....and, then, as if magically, things begin to shift. They lighten. They soften and open. We begin to see differently with more clarity of the entire situation that felt so dense just days, hours, moments before. Have you experienced this?

I talk often to clients as well as in my own household about the breakdown to breakthrough (I also have an entire chapter about this in my upcoming book as it is so powerful!). I believe that this is part of the potentiality of our growth and evolution as humans. Sometimes things have to boil to the surface and even spill over causing mess and irritation and anger.

Sometimes things must breakdown in order to reorganize into a new vibration that is aligned with the breakthrough.

Where it gets sticky is in how to navigate these waters while doing no harm....both to ourselves and each other. We all have those cringy moments where we said something out of haste that we didn't really mean, that caused harm. Those moments of turning something on us (think addiction...) rather than moving the fiery energy in a healthy and productive way.

We are all humans, having a human experience.

Infusing our lives with awareness and deep inner connection and doing our best to meet the varying flavors of this human existence, is a practice and a process.

Perhaps this message can provide the opportunity for you to take a deep exhale in whatever process you are in.
To meet the denser moments with intention and awareness that they can and will shift.
To soften our hearts to ourselves and each other with compassion and a profound sense of humanness.
And, to do our absolute best to stay in integrity and truth with who we are....messy, fumbling, imperfect, and beautiful human beings.

As we all, in our own way, sift through the fog of these times, change on a cellular level, and reorganize our systems from the depths of who we are, may you find some solace in what I am offering on any level that you are needing.

May you remember that you are not alone.
