Strength in Connection

This poem has been floating around social media and feels poignant for these times.  It really landed for me when a friend, (thank you Cheri!), read it aloud to me so perhaps read it aloud to yourself or your loved ones and let the words sink in....

It is hard to fathom how things have unfolded in these past 2 weeks since my last correspondence with you all.

My main intention in writing to you today is to let you know that I am here.

I genuinely seek to be of service during these times.

While I certainly do not have the magic answers as to how to cope with this high level of uncertainty, of stress, of trauma, of fear, I can offer my heart and my personal experiences of navigating my own encounters with the impermanence of life and soul-shaking events.

I understand trauma in my bones. I know how to move through it and come out on the other side. I can offer words, practices, actions, support, inspiration, and wisdom that I have gleaned over the years.

This collective crisis has rattled us all to the core. In the same vein, I feel that this situation has dropped us all into our hearts.

We are on the precipice of an incredible shift in our ways of operating.  We are softening, assessing, shifting our priorities, appreciating, re-evaluating, and experiencing the preciousness of life and what is truly important.

This feels, to me, to be one of those times that is going to strengthen us all in immeasurable ways both as individuals and as the whole.

It is moments like these that we remember that we are not invincible.

That life is a cherished gift to be appreciated.

We are all in a renegotiation on every level in our households, in our relationships, in our communities, with our resources, and in our accessibility to everyday habits and errands.

There has also been so much beauty that has emerged in these weeks. I have witnessed and experienced first-hand incredible acts of kindness and generosity.  I have felt the hearts around me melt and open. I have observed the gentleness of strangers interacting and the healing of foes.

It is truly moment-by-moment. Day-by-day. We are being stretched in our capacities to meet this unfolding and what remains unknown about the future.

As things continue to shift and change and unfurl, please know that I am out here in support.  I am working behind the scenes to create some more online offerings to meet these times.  In the meantime, here is a free recording of a Yoga Nidra practice as well as some affordable and accessible options for practice and connection on my website. I am also now offering sliding scale Zoom Coaching Calls! Here is the link to schedule.

To me, the greatest medicine for these times is to be kind and compassionate (with ourselves and with each other), trust, and stay connected.

You are not alone.  We are in this together.
