Relationship to Self
Life is all about relationship.
Relationship to our environment, to our food and nourishment (everything that we put into our bodies), our children and families, our partners, our communities, and, most importantly, our relationship to ourselves.
From this relationship, everything else is born.
Our relationship to ourselves is a mirror to all others.
This time of pandemic has had tremendous impact on all of our relationships to varying degrees.
Our outer relationships are, without a doubt, shifting and changing due to distance, social isolation, too much time together, not enough time together, and limitations in our travel and gathering options.
What remains crucial is how we are relating to ourselves and all of the many textures of this precious relationship.
As we continue to navigate the outer chaos, we can remember the crucial nature of our foundation, our relationship with our inner world, as a touching stone for all other relations.
Acknowledging that there are many varying scenarios around navigating our relationship to ourselves that are dependent on our life’s situation, whom we may cohabitate with, if we are alone, partnered, with child, childless….
It is all about beginning exactly where we are in our current configuration of life.
So often, we are outwardly focused on others needs, approval, support, praise, recognition, and/or love in order to attempt to feel a connection with ourselves. This, obviously, is not sustainable.
No matter what our life situation may be, there is always the opportunity to turn towards ourselves, our own hearts, bodies, minds, and souls and do our inner work so as to move through life in alignment and integrity with the truth of who we are.
This inner work only serves the outer and is pivotal in creating harmony, peace, satisfaction, ease, health, and authenticity in all of our relationships.
Doing inner work is not an “easy” path by any means, yet is crucial for our growth and evolution as humans, as I have shared countless times. And, it is never too late to begin the process of engagement with our true Selves.
It is never too late to choose to turn towards ourselves on every level and begin to unearth those parts of ourselves that have been lost over the years.
As humans, we are meant to continuously evolve and grow. If you find yourself in a state of stagnation, are uninspired, are dragging through your days and weeks…perhaps this is an invitation to take a look inward and do some work.
A nudge to begin to tap into a realm of movement and self-inquiry so as to come into a deeper relationship with oneself.
Simultaneously, it is important to recognize that, as humans, we are meant to relate. Our capacity to relate to our fellow seekers enhances our journey of self-development and deepens our connection to ourselves.
When we relate to others, with presence and awareness, we are able to accelerate in our personal growth as well as magnify our ability to show up in life on the whole.
This time of isolation has been difficult for so many in this vein. Being a single woman, living alone with a child, and running a business on my own, I have needed to get creative in my access points with humanity.
Starting my podcast last June, at the prompt of my business coach, has become the greatest gift of growth and exploration for me during these times. When I began, I had no idea the life that it would take on and that it would bring me infinite opportunity for self-reflection, introspection, growth, and connection in midst of such extreme isolation and separation.
With each interview, I am blessed with the opportunity to dive even deeper into my own Self, my patterns, and processes. I am able to really look at where are the gaps are in my relationship with myself while witnessing, hearing, listening, and sharing others stories, wisdom, and inspiration.
Who knew?!?
As we continue on this journey of living life in midst of a pandemic, with still so much uncertainty and unknown in our outer world, there is always the fortuity to turn inward to the relationship that we have with ourselves.
To create even more ground within so that we can continue to connect with others from an aligned and integrated place.
We will emerge from this, and truly what a golden opportunity it is to drop in, tap into, surrender, embrace, and open to new possibilities of growing and healing ourselves.
At our core, to begin to know ourselves in a new and fresh way, no matter how much personal work we have done, where we are on our journey, or how old we are.
